Book Fair

In the fall of 2005, the Governor for Rotary District 6510, Catherine Taylor Yank, challenged all the clubs in the district to collect new or                    gently used books to send to schools in Belize.  In answer to the challenge the club began gathering donated books as well as hosting a             Community Book Sale in December 2005.  Many club members including family members volunteered at the event, setting up, assisting               customers, and even dressing as Clifford the Big Red Dog.   The Book Sale was a big hit with the community and the Club was able to                          add over 700 new books to the thousands already collected.

Due to the success of the Book Sale and the fun had by the club members and their families, the book sale committee decided to turn it                       into an annual event.  The proceeds from the 2006 book sale allowed the club to donate over 650 books to the library at the Christian                     Activity Center in East St. Louis.

The next Community Book Sale will be December 7 & 8 at the 1st Methodist Church in O’Fallon.
